GSI attends ASCO

Three members of GIST Support International attended the meeting of ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) in Atlanta June 2-6, 2006. Karen Loomis, Leslie Norman, MD, and Paul Rubin, MD volunteered their time to navigate the huge and hectic convention. Jim Loomis, Karen’s husband, also gave his time to go. They heard lectures, spent time in poster sessions discussing esearch with poster presenters, collected information in the exhibit hall, and walked a least a marathon in the process. Karen and Jim handled distribution of GSI literature and copies of the DVD about targeted cancer therapy featuring GSI GIST patient Marina Symcox.

Many thanks to our dedicated ASCO team!

ASCO changed its policy in 2006, and the webcasts of taped sessions will not be available for public view until September. You can still go to www.asco.org to read abstracts before then.
